FIT
The BBJ-03 FLIGHT JACKET is developed from our BBJ base pattern and updated with details commonly found in vintage flight jackets. It has two large flap pockets, an inside pocket and a thick sherpa collar; the sherpa lining is also used inside the entire garment including the sleeves. The fabric used for this piece is quite unorthodox because its origin can be found in an entirely different type of military jacket (see fabric info), but by combining both we have created a unique piece that works surprisingly well.
FABRIC
The m-65 reverse sateen twill is a reproduction of, and nod to, the fabric used for the now classic m-65 field jacket, eponymously named after the year it was introduced, which was widely used by the US military during the Vietnam war. The blend of cotton and nylon contributes to both breathability and durability, while its light weight promotes high variety of usage considering it can be used for layering. When combined with a suitable liner, or in the case of our flight jacket, a sherpa body, it can even be used for much harsher weather than the South-East Asian tropics.
